2021-2022 High School Scholarship
The 2021-2022 College Essay Scholarship program is supported through fundraising efforts by the Queens Foundation for Architecture, in collaboration with AIA Queens and AIA National via a Matching Scholarship Grant.
This Essay Scholarship Program seeks to recognize Architecture students and members of AIAS in the NYC metropolitan area who best illustrate their journeys through words, as they pursue Architecture. Key resources and past outreach partners include AIAS National, AIANY, CCNY, Pratt, NYIT, Parsons, and City Tech.
There are 3 scholarships available for $1,000, $750 and $750.

Eligibility
- Must be enrolled at a NAAB-accredited undergraduate architecture program
- Must be a 3rd, 4th or 5th-Year student within New York State
- OR a Queens resident, at a program within the United States
- OR a Queens resident, at a program within the United States
- Must be an AIAS member at the time of accepting a scholarship award
- Previous scholarship recipients eligible
Scholarship Essay Prompt
All interested students must write an 800-word essay describing:
- Reason(s) for deciding to major in architecture
- How are you pursuing your career goals through your education?
- How has the AIAS assisted you through your studies and career goals?
- Why do you plan to become an AIA member?
- As the future architects, describe how you will incorporate sustainability in your career and design goals?
- Have you had any practical and/or hands-on experience in an architecture firm or architectural-related industry? What have you learned from this experience and how has that been reflected in your studio projects?
